Tristan Eaton Mural - Primary Flight / Art Basel

Tristan here…Wow! What a week it’s been. We went down to Miami to check out Art Basel and do a little mural and it turned into a whole lot more. Big thanks to Books for inviting us into Primary Flight, Cpop Gallery for bringing us down and Crome & MSG Crew for letting me paint the walls of Easy St. Gallery.

Check out the pics of the mural in progress. The background was wheat pasted, then white washed, then hand painted with enamel, brushes, markers and mop tops.

Ron English came through! Thanks man.

Check out the details here.

TRISTAN EATON & THUNDERDOG IN MEXICO CITY!

Last week, the Thunderdog crew headed to Mexico City to celebrate to the release of Tristan’s DELL Laptops into South America! Mexico is the only country in the world where you can buy Tristan’s laptops at retail (which is extra special considering everywhere else, you have to shop online). To celebrate, Tristan executed a big panel painting at Hotel Distrito Capital while Dell showed off the goods to the public. It was a beautifully designed affair and the locals were so welcoming and friendly that we almost didn’t come back. Check out the highlights from the party below…

While we were down in Mexico, we were invited to get down and dirty with the locals. First stop was BORDER GALLERY to paint with Local artists SANER and GAME OVER CREW.

Then we headed over to the MUMEDI Design Museum where an exhibition was held in Tristan’s honor! It was a big night of signing with posters and toys. It was so fun!

Last but not least, we spent the day at the SHELTER SNEAKER STORE. They rocked a full block party with the big sound system and DJs while Tristan gave the store a face lift. And big ups to MONEY MARK for coming through!!!

We want to send a HUGE thank you and shout out to everyone in Mexico City that was so gracious and friendly to us down there! Big ups to COMPLOT, OCHO, DEEP MAGAZINE, GAME OVER, SANER, MUMEDI, SHELTER and all the fans that came out! We’ll see you guys soon!

C-POP GALLERY CLOSING SHOW: DETROIT

The closing of C-Pop is a sad occasion. Thunderdog Pres Tristan Eaton has been showing with C-Pop since he was 18 years old and they played a pivotal role in his career. C-Pop Founder Rick Manore got Tristan his first illustration job at Detroit’s Orbit Magazine and C-Pop Owner Tom Thewes was Tristan’s Illustration teacher! Needless to say, these guys are old pals of ours and they’ve been extremely important to the entire art community. Back in 1996 when they started, they were one of the only galleries in America to show exclusively  ’Low Brow Art’, and made a home for artists like Glen Barr, Naigara, Robert Williams and more. It so so sad to see these guys go, they’ve done more than most for us personally and our whole art culture at large.

The closing show will feature an all star line up of the best of the best that have shown at C-Pop and will definitely be a beautiful exhibition. Definitely come by if you’re in the D!
Also check out the shout out Tristan and his Mom got in the Detroit Free Press today. It’s pretty funny:

“Tristan Eaton was the first person to sell an art piece at CPop, when he was still in high school,” says Manore. “His  mom, Gillian, came into the gallery on the day we opened and said her son was an artist. Tristan brought in his piece  and it sold, and I thought, ‘Wow, people will buy original art.”
